***NEW FOR DISCUSSION AT THE JUNE MEETING *** RECYCLING CHANGES: ASKING RESIDENTS TO SEPARATE RECYCLING MATERIAL: GLASS, CANS, PLASTIC SEPARATE AND PAPER, CARDBOARD SEPARATE. Council will discuss these changes at the June 2018 regular meeting. Discussion will be whether to go back to the schedule prior to singlestream which was 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month CoMingle including glass, plastic and cans and then the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month Mixed Paper, Cardboard recycling. Fifth Wednesdays, no recycling pickup. We will keep you posted.
Remember weigh limit. No trash or yard waste will be collected if too heavy – it will be left behind. If DPW does not get to the yard waste collections on Tuesdays, it will be done on Thursdays or Fridays. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.
REMINDER: DURING THE SPRING AND SUMMER MONTHS, THE DPW WORKERS MAY START THEIR DAY AT 6 AM. WE ASK THAT ALL COLLECTION MATERIALS BE PLACED CURBSIDE THE NIGHT BEFORE THE SCHEDULED PICKUP DAY.
RULES AND REGULATIONS:
(1) WEIGHT LIMIT. CONTAINERS AND BAGS NEED TO BE LIFTED UP INTO VEHICLES. PLEASE DO NOT EXCEED WEIGHT LIMIT. (2) PLACE ITEMS CURBSIDE NIGHT BEFORE PICKUP. BAGS SHOULD BE TIED. (3) LARGE TREE CUT OR BUSHES REMOVED MUST HAVE SPECIAL PICKUP ARRANGED THROUGH BOROUGH OFFICE. THERE IS A $15.00 RENTAL FEE. TRUCK WILL BE PARKED AT YOUR PROPERTY FOR YOU TO LOAD. (4) ABSOLUTELY NO UNACCEPTABLE ITEMS MIXED WITH GRASS AND YARD WASTE. THIS WILL CAUSE PROBLEMS FOR THE GRINDER AT THE COMPOST SITE. (5) RECYCLING MATERIAL GENERATES REVENUE FOR THE BOROUGH AND THEREFORE RECYCLING MATERIAL SHOULD NOT BE THROWN OUT AS TRASH IN BOROUGH REFUSE BAGS. THIS COSTS THE BOROUGH TO TAKE TO LANDFILL VS RECEIVING REVENUE. HIGHER COSTS TO THE BOROUGH MEANS HIGHER COSTS TO THE RESIDENTS. ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE CONTACT THE BOROUGH OFFICE.
Rules and Regulations not followed will result in the items remaining at your property until the issue is corrected. A warning notice will be issued.

TUESDAY – YARD WASTE PICKUP – LEAVES, BRANCHES, GRASS CLIPPING – NO DIRT OR STONE MIXED IN. BRANCHES UP TO 4 INCHES IN DIAMETER – KEEP DIRT AND ROCK SEPARATE CONTAINERS. FOR LARGER LOADS, THE BOROUGH WILL RENT THE BOROUGH DUMP TRUCK FOR $15.00/LOAD FOR RESIDENTS TO LOAD SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF YARD WASTE.
WEDNESDAY – RECYCLING PICKUP
THURSDAY – SPECIAL PROJECTS – MAINTENANCE, POTHOLE PATCHNG, SIGNS, CREEK CHANNEL, ETC. PARKS AND BUILDING MAINTENANCE, VEHICLE MAINTENANCE, GRASS CUTTING, ETC.
FRIDAY – SPECIAL PROJECTS – MAINTENANCE, POTHOLE PATCHING, SIGNS, CREEK CHANNEL, ETC.
REMINDER – WEIGHT LIMIT 30 LBS. PLEASE NOTE WORKERS NEED TO LIFT CONTAINERS UP AND INTO DUMP TRUCKS. PLEASE DO NOT OVERLOAD.
RECYCLING BINS AVAILABLE AT THE BOROUGH BUILDING. (CURRENTLY OUT OF STOCK) Order was placed on May 9th, should be available by end of June. UPDATE: Bins available beginning June 5th.
USED CLOTHING RECYCLING: The Dupont Lions Club/Leo’s Club is collecting clothing: Clothing Boxes are on site at the Dupont Borough Building Side of Building and also at the Pittston Area School Locations including Ben Franklin Center on Walnut Street.
COMPOST AVAILABLE TO RESIDENTS
Compost is available at the facility site off Garden Road. A $10 fee is charged for bucket load. Compost is also available behind the Dupont Borough Building for residents of seven participating municipalities.
