Dupont Borough turns 100 years old in 2017. As part of its anniversary, Dupont Borough and Dupont Lions Club will work closely on fundraising activities for the purchase of a town clock to be located on the corner of the Borough Building property near Elm Street. A photo shot of the clock in place on the borough building grounds is on display in the borough office. Engraved names of sponsors will be displayed on all four sides of the base of the clock. Engrave your business logo, in memory of, or your name. Space is limited so register your interest with the borough office or with a member of the Lions Club.
Progress Commitee meetings are held under the direction of Resident and Crime Watch Secretary Bob Price to coordinate and discuss the history book, clock fundraiser, and centennial. If you have old photos, articles, etc., or any ideas or want to be part of this commitee contact Bob at 570-840-3461.
Also part of the 100th anniversary of Dupont Borough - The Borough has been collecting articles and pictures dating back from 1917 to present which are memories of Dupont Borough then and now. There are many sports pictures including Coalcrakers Football, Many baseball teams, Pictures of The Laurel Line, Various Businesses such as Sugar Bowl, Friends Market, Community House, Polish Club, Pierantoni's Bar, Family Photos,Soldiers Photos, Parades, Celebrations, and so much more. It is a great task putting the photos and articles together for publication into a history book to be sold as part of fundraising means to cover the 100th year celebration. Anyone interested in making this their project is asked to stop by the borough office for details.
